Using IBM i? Need to create Excel, CSV, HTML, JSON, PDF, SPOOL reports? Learn more about the fastest and least expensive tool for the job: SQL iQuery.
Next week (first part of week) I am putting on a training session on free and inexpensive software/tools on the ibm i. I wanted to ask the forum here for any of their "free and inexpensive" tools on the i that they use, as if it is not already on my presentation list, I would like to add.

Free (for one user): Linoma Surveyor/400.
Really like this tool and use it all the time. Graphical interface on your PC to work with the IFS, work with files (like a more powerful DBU), transfer files up and down, run SQL, etc.
Free: CNX Valence community edition
Toolkit to create applications with GUI front-ends to RPG programs. After using the community edition, we bought the enterprise edition and use it to create all our GUI applications that run in browser, on mobile, etc.

I'm very interested to hear how this went. The midrange market is weird. Many people decry the high cost of vendor packages, but won't use any free source either. Talk about a no win scenario...
It went well. I used what you all had plus several things I had researched, etc. and a few I demo'ed, etc. Many of the websites that in theory have such are no longer active or have not been updated in 10 years (so might as well be not active).
