hey everybody, the sarge is back in the states after another funtastic year in the mountains of afghanistan, with such exotic locations as the bottoms of mountains, the sides of mountains, the tops of mountians. add to this a dash of snow, ice, rain, heat, mortars, rockets and small arms fire and you have yourself a good reason to never (rarely at least) complain about being behind a desk and a keyboard. :)

Welcome. So what about the goats and blowing stuff up?
ate a goat or two when we would embed with the local nationals. kind of interesting. they have strict religous tenants when it comes to slaying a "food" animal. they let us observe, but we were not allowed to kill or prepare the animal.
so'kay with me. i get my meat at the butcher shop, walmart or the steakhouse.
blew a few things up, but mostly the "stuff that blows up" was directed as us again. maybe it's me? should i take this personal that people from the middle east, bosnia and other places keep shooting at me and destroying my vehicles?
take care neil.

I'm glad you're back. I went to a funeral a few Saturdays ago - Spc Jason Edens, age 22, home town Franklin TN, died April 26th of gunshot wounds sustained while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Welcome back! Glad you found us over here a the new saloon. The old one shut down.
now i wish i had stayed a little longer. i left on the 12th to go to kandahar to prep for return to fort hood. i knew jason. he was with the 1st armor, out of bliss or hood. i'm not certain which.
we were in the laghman province. i was telling him about my coming home on leave and finding out that edman had died in a motorcycle accident.
we both ride and i wanted to let him know to be careful when he got home. this was his first tour and he was excited about being "spurred" with the cav/scouts.
please relay my condolences.
