the other night got a demo of temporal tables on the ibm i.  Available in V7R3. The ability to have versioning without really any program changes or databases to maintain the system does it for you and you can go and ask for the table results as of a particular date and voila.

It is something to consider no doubt.

They are a great feature to add to IBM i in v7r3. Some of our customers are upgrading to v7.3 to get that feature. It does require that the files are journalled, and it uses its own journal to create the temporal information. After you do one or two of them and we see how performance is, I thin it'll be something we use a lot.
