Hello. I've been running Websphere Dev Studio on my laptop for years and now I have a new laptop that it appears the software doesn't support. :-( What is the software that replaced it and is there a charge?
Thanks in advance for any info.
Chris
That would be Rational Developer for i or "RDi".
This is the link to download the trial version.

As far as cost? I paid for my one copy. It was about $865 (I think) and then IBM charges you $165/yearly on top of that. Certainly NOT worth it.
If your company owns an IBM i Power system, you usually end up with 10 licenses of RDi with it, so that's certainly a better option for most developers. That's a "grandfathered-in" option for prior PDM users.
I have run WDSCi on Windows 7. There's an entry in the Midrange Wiki for that. http://wiki.midrange.com/index.php/WDSC_installation_on_Windows_7
Thanks for the input, guys. What was weird is I tried installing WDSi on my Windows 7 machine and it said something about Java seeing it as Windows NT. Lol. I tried it again and soe far it appears to be installing properly. I guess we'll see if it works when it's done. I'll also check on the RDi licenses, if I need to.
Thanks again!
There have been new features added to RPG that WDSc will not recognize... And there have been new features and improvements added to RDi since WDSc, so it might be worth considering. I personally really like RDi.
WDSc is getting very old, but it was free and that is of course an advantage it had.
