I am having the following issue.

I create a page segment (someones signature) and it prints without issue.

If I IPL the machine, it will print the entire document without the signature.

If I end the writer and then restart it, it works!

I assume that writer ends when you IPL and restarts.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brian

You on V7R1? I had to install the latest Group PTF for PRINT to fix some AFP issues--perhaps this is related to that same set of fixes?

We are on V7R1 here.

Could be a PTF issue.

If I print to a printer device type of 3812 it works, but the device type of *IPDS doesn't until the writer is ended and restarted.

I'm not sure about IPDS as I don't use that. I always use *AFPDS as I don't see much support for IPDS anymore.

If it's not the Print PTFs, you might try adding a delay in your IPL program - have it wait a couple minutes before starting the writers. Could be that not all of the *DEVD have come online before the writers are starting. (Take a look in history (DSPLOG) or in QSYSOPR messages, for the IPL and a few minutes immediately following. Search for the writer name.)
