Are there any alternatives to using Display files to show users DB2 records?
Any help appreciated
Thanks Jeff
You mean something like SQL?
Have not worked to much with SQL, I need to replace this type of view for users

it appears that you want the user to be able to make a selection, based on my interpetation of the screen shot.
if so, why is DDS NOT the ideal solution?
even with CLLE these days, you can use DDS to accept the User Action, then act on it.
you could use UIM and create a panel group, but it's been many years since i played with that.
another option would be to create a CMD GetKidAge, with the proper keywords passed to a CLLE. This is more elegant than DDS menus in CLLE and is easier to generate and maintain (in my opinion) than a panel group.
from any of the above, you could call an SQL or a Query/400 report that gives the results.

You say " show users DB2 records" but the work with panel is a standard View/Edit/Delete one. You need those options? If not, there may be a solution. If so, then besides UIM (panel groups) or DSM (Dynamic Screen Manager) you're going to need a code generator or write it yourself.
Are you saying you want to replace a DDS-based green "work-with" screen with something else? What about using something like CGIDEV2 to show them the screen in a browser instead? Why do you need to "replace" the current screen? A bit more background and details on the requirements would be helpful in order to give more meaningful answers.
Viking nailes it! Go learn php for the front end, sql embedded rpg accessing db2 tables for the back end and arrive in a place the community should have been many years ago.
Can't agree more of using php and doing all of it against your db2 files. Of course you could look at jwow which while I haven't installed, I saw some pretty neat "query" sort of stuff being done with the free version.
