IBM i Menu Exit Point Published by: Bob Cozzi on 24 Jul 2013 view comments(1)

I have a client who wants to restrict users from running certain menu options.

So I thought I'd look for an EXIT POINT that could be called, check the menu, option and user against a database that we'd setup and bam!  No joy... no exit points for Menus.

There's no question mark so I assume you're fishing for alternatives...

You can always write a general wrapper that is called from the menu and has the program to be called as a parameter. Downside: you'd have to go in and change all the menu options that you want to make secure...

Assuming there's a general initial program called in the beginning of every application (very handy to have!), you could add your authority validations to this initial program.

Good luck,
