I have a COZTOOLS client asking for a more complete CVTRPGSRC (Convert RPGIII to RPG IV) command; one that includes moving to free-format. The RDp option is okay, but not very global in its use.
Obviously the MOVE opcode has to go over, and dates, but what else?
Aren't there already tools like Brad Stone's [edit: and Linoma's] that do a better job than IBM's?
Bob,
We have used a product from Linoma Software call RPG Toolbox that seems to do a pretty good job of conversion.
Oh, right! That's the one I'm thinking of.
How does it handle date opcodes such as ADDDUR etc. Does it move them to free format?
[EDIT: Looks like IBM is working on something. A sort of "CVTRPGSRC" follow-on product. No word on if its a v7.1 thing or v8.1 however]
It will convert adddur and subdur to BIF's if suported by the OS version.
I've used Linoma's RPG Toolbox RPG Wizard quite a bit too and have been happy with the results. It has defaults you can override for what you do or don't want converted and how.
