sFTP documentation needed Published by: Chris Proctor on 24 Jul 2012 view comments(2)

Good morning. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a good, accurate document on how to set up sFTP for v6r1? I have a request to do this for one of our vendors and I have no clue on what's involved, so the more detailed the documentation, the better.

Thanks!

Chris

I had looked at this at one point, but it was eventually abandoned in favor of a different solution. Still, for what it's worth...

sFTP is part of the Portable Utilities (no charge) licensed program. Have you been to the web site? 5733-SC1 - IBM Portable Utilities for i5/OS This is a port of OpenSSH (IBM didn't write it, just ported to i OS). There's a link to OpenSSH's site from the SC1 site.

There were some articles in IBM Systems mag. Try SSH Helps Protect Network Communications from Prying Eyes, which has a link to Installing and Configuring the IBM Portable Utilities for i5/OS.

Scott Klement has a presentation PDF on his website that helped me.  It's at: http://www.scottklement.com/presentations/#OPENSSH (look for the one titled Setting up and !--script--ing the OpenSSH, SFTP, and SCP Utilities on IBM i).
