Using IFS to store Outlook 2007 pst file Published by: Danny Hayes on 28 Dec 2011 view comments(4)

Has anyone been successful at using a folder on the IFS to store Outlook 2007 Personal Folders.

I have done it with prior versions of Outlook and previous incarnations of OS400, but have been thwarted so far.   Yell

Any tips will be appreciated, even if telling me it is hopeless.

Thanks,

Danny

I have no experience doing this so I can't help you, but I do wonder why you want to do this.  Disk storage is a lot cheaper on Windows servers and don't you back them up too?

Just interested in the reason for this.

I know its not exactly what you're asking about, the Lansa just announced a free "dropbox" style app that sync's with the IFS. It is named LongReach and creates a folder on your PC and anything you put into it, is uploaded to the IFS in the background.

Here is the link.

Can't say that I've tried this, but what exactly is the problem? You didn't say, but I'm going to guess you're using NetServer. Can you provide some details?

  • Are your Windows user name and your i user profile name the same?
  • If the user names are the same, are the passwords the same?
  • Does the Windows user name exist at all on i?
  • If the Windows user name doesn't exist on i, is a guest profile configured in NetServer?
