Sorry, I should have looked at the licensed programs on my Iseries first. The command , WRKLICINF, shows the DB2 edition loaded already.

Not sure what you're looking at WestCoastGuy. DB2 is part of SS1. It is not a separate feature, it is not separately installable, and it does not show up in WRKLICINF or as a line anywhere in GO LICPGM options. Don't be confused by other items that have DB2 in the name. They are add ons to provide additional capability, enhanced performance, and the like.

For example, 57xxST1, DB2 Query Mgr and SQL DevKit, gives you Query Manager, interactive SQL (STRSQL command), and the precompilers for using embedded SQL in HLL's. ST1 does not provide the run time; the run time is just the OS (SS1). An SQL RPG program (that was compiled elsewhere, perhaps) will run just fine even if ST1 is not installed.
