Is it practical to expect to do remote journalling between two system that are NOT at the same release level? Folks here are saying it is not. But here's the situation:
Site ID | Server Model | Release Level | Backup Server Model | Backup Server RelLvl |
01 | 810 | v5.2 | 810 | v5.4 |
02 | 170 | v5.2 | 520 | v5.4 |
03 | 170 | v5.2 | 520 | v5.4 |
04 | 810 | v5.2 | 720 | v7.1 |
05 | 810 | v5.4 | 720 | v7.1 |
Do I need to get the backup servers on the same release level as the production systems? I know this would be desirable but is it strictly necessary?
Next year we're moving to all new model 710 Express units with v7.x on them, but for now, we need backup/recover capabilities nearly "live".
Can't seem to find anything, anywhere, regarding release to release compatibility of remote journals. The only thing I could find regarding requirements was Supported communications protocols for remote journals, and that not much (mostly about the RDB directory entries).
