What 5250 Client are you using on MAC? Published by: Bob Cozzi on 05 Oct 2011 view comments(1)

I just got done emailing the folks at Mochasoft.dk about their TN5250 program for Mac OS X.

I asked them for a couple of enhancements and got a "we're not selling enough to warrant work on it" reply.

If so many IBM i users and developers are moving to Apple Mac platform, what are they using as their 5250 emulation client?

I have a license for Mocha in addition to running IBM Client Access v7.1 in both Virtual Box/Windows 7 and Bootcamp/Windows 7. But I certainly prefer to just run native OS X with Mocha unless I need RDp for development.

If you are using Mac, what are you using for 5250?

We use mocha and have for many years. Of course the mocha license is a buy once and you get it forever so since 5250 is not changing and telnet is not changing (much) they don't need to have new versions that they can sell. So I can see how their sales numbers for the mac client are very low. There is also a free open source java client that i think would run on macs
