Hi Bob,
Dunno bout the SAV/RSTOBJ (can't check where I am now) but if there's not too many spooled files you might consider sending them with SNDNETSPLF (option 1 on the WRKSPLF screen).
Good luck,
Paulster
Think we got this in V5R4; see SPLFDTA() keyword on SAV* commands. Without this, you only save the *OUTQ definition, not the contents (like pre-V5R4). On the restore side, the related job isn't there, so they're detached (see system value QSPLFACN).
btw, if you use SNDNETSPLF, make sure you specify DTAFMT(*ALLDATA).
I know about the splfdtA(*YES) on V5R4 and later... we're move from v5r2 and the client tends to archive stuff in spool files... I thought of the sndnetsplf, but having used SNADS in a century--don't know if its set up. I'll check. Thanks guys!
Hmm... unless you've got an SNA connection, SNADS will need AnyNet. Somewhere along the line we switched from AnyNet to *HPRIP, but I don't know if that's available in V5R2.
Another option would be QSPCLOSP, QSPCRTSP, QSPGETSP, QSPPUTSP, QSPOPNSP, but that could be a lot of work, and complicated if any AFP involved.
Wow - it helps if you reread the original post. Remote *OUTQ would be easier than SNDNETSPLF (no SNA if you don't want to, no directory entries, no SNADS, ...). You give up user association on the target, but DTAFMT(*ALLDATA) is implied.
Save object lets you save outq and spool files
Spooled file data (SPLFDTA) - Help
Specifies whether to save spooled file data and attribute
for output queues that are saved.
*NONE
No spooled file data is saved.
*ALL
For each output queue that is saved, all available
spooled file data on the output queue is saved.

John, yep we know about that on V5R4 an later.
It's not on our old V5R2 machine that we're moving to V5R4 and then up to a v7r1 system in a month or two.
Thanks!
FYI, I used SNDTCPSPLF to send the spool files--it works great.
