This site is built with NOVA CMS, Bob Cozzi's Content Management System for IBM i.

It is written entirely in RPG IV with Embedded SQL. There is NO DDS and NO CL used in this application at all. The graphical user interface is browser-based and driven by RPG IV using Bob Cozzi's RPG xTools' CGILIB service program (a commercial competitor of the EASY400 CGIDEV2 service program). There is a lot of HTML and JavaScript being used in this system, but NO .NET, NO JAVA, NO PHP, just basic HTML, JavaScript, RPG IV and SQL.

  • Added a color code to Discussion threads that have been updated since your last visit. Remember, a visit is considered only at sign on.

25 August 2011

  • Discussion Forum added. The new Community Discussions (aka "Discussion Forum") has been activated.
  • To create a new Community Discussion, click the icon in the menu bar at the top of the webpage masthead.
  • A new TOC box has been added to the homepage. This TOC contains the most the Discussion topics in most-recent first order.

  • Moved Comment entry box to end of Previous Comments (it was before the comments, which sort of blocked the comments).

July 7, 2011

  • Fixed (we hope!) a major bug in the signon routine. This problem only occurred in certain timezones and only if your clock was accurate. If you are having trouble signing in, please try one or both of the following:
    1. Sign Off and Sign back on, or
    2. Delete your cookies for the midrangeNews.com website. All of our cookies begin with the letters NOVA followed by an underscore character, that is:  NOVA_
  • Remember, try option 1, first and if doesn't work, try option 2. In most cases, users should not have an issue and have to take no action (i.e., most will not have to do either of the above steps). So if the site is working for you, do nothing.

June 10, 2011

  • Added a non-recurring Premium Membership option. Many customers told use that they want to subscribe but prefer a non-recurring option. Some have signed up for a year and then gone in and immediately cancelled the future payments. To accommodate these customers, we have instituted a $24 annual Premium Membership option that is a one-time payment. It is up to the Member to renew and pay for their future membership when it expires. A notice will appear on the MidrangeNews homepage for members, when they sign in, notifying them that their membership is up for renewal.
